23 Mar 2019 Circuit Hero Race 1 Adderly Fong wins | Ma Jia-Jun fights back to take second overall

On 23rd March, Pan Delta Super Racing Festival Spring Race officially begins. In the afternoon in the Circuit Hero race, Zun Motorsport Crew #38 Adderly Fong and #77 Ma Jia-Jun finish 1-2. 13 Racing Full Bore Oil Racing #16 Philip Lawrence Kadoorie takes third place, with Tianshi Racing #99 David Chen Wei-An finishing in fourth place.

Today the weather at Zhuhai International Circuit is gloomy with fog. The drivers tried their hands at the track in the qualifying session in the morning. Zun Motorsport Crew #38 Adderly Fong took pole position. Second in qualifying is his teammate #77 Ma Jia-Jun.

Since Circuit Hero changed its format, this class is the most powerful class. The wet track is a big influence to the race. The drivers are confident though with Adderly Fong saying he can adapt. Without his strong rivals last year, he is in an advantageous position. David Chen Wei-An said he has competition standard electronic system on his car and appears full of confidence.

Circuit Hero Race 1 begins at 14:20 in the afternoon. The rain becomes more severe at this time and there are puddles at many places, giving the race more variables.

At the start, the first two rows go through turn 1 smoothly, without any order changes. Leader Adderly Fong quickly builds up a lead. #77 Ma Jia-Jun and #99 David Chen Wei-An has a coming together at turn 7, fortunately both cars are able to continue. David Chen Wei-An is still in his original position but Ma Jia-Jun is now down in eighth place. #2 Michael Choi is penalized a drive-through for jumping the start.

Race leader Adderly Fong continues to pull away from the rest, passing backmarkers and extending his lead. Ma Jia-Jun begins his fight back and is already up to sixth place by lap 3. He then gets up to fourth place on lap 5. He then passes both Philip Lawrence Kadoorie and David Chen Wei-An for second place on lap 6. Kadoorie and Chen continue to battle for third place and Kadoorie prevails in the end.

The chequered flag is shown to indicate the end of the race, Zun Motorsport Crew #38 Adderly Fong wins and also sets the fastest lap 1:41.728. His Zun Motorsport Crew teammate #77 Ma Jia-Jun finishes second overall. 13 Racing Full Bore Oil Racing #16 Philip Lawrence Kadoorie finishes third overall. Tianshi Racing #99 David Chen Wei-An takes fourth place. 

After the race, Adderly Fong said this was the first time he drove the car in true wet conditions, as the race is slower due to the rain, he actually enjoyed the race more than before. Ma Jia-Jun said he tried hard to chase the leaders but he still lacks experience, anyway he is very happy with second place.

Circuit Hero will hold its second race at 14:00 tomorrow (24th March), it will be interesting to see who will finish on the podium.
