18 Mar 2018 Circuit Hero-Three Race 1: Close fight all the way
At 9:30 a.m. on 18 March, 2018 Pan Delta Super Racing Festival Spring Race begins its busy timetable today with the 18 cars of the Circuit Hero-Three race. This is the only race in Pan Delta that requires two drivers to compete together. Team work and timing are key issues. According to yesterday's qualifying results, #7 Huang Zhi-Hang/Xie Jia-Xing are on pole postion, #17 Yan Yu-Peng/Zeng Yin-Zhuo are second, both teams managed sub 2 minutes laps in qualifying. A2 class favourite #36 PetroCanada Star Cars Racing Lei Jun-Bin/Hu Jia-Xin are on row 2, starting from 4th position. Another well performing team #18 Go Kart Racing Deng Qi-Yan/Liang Yu-Xiang are starting from 7th position.
The lights went off and the race began. There was accident on lap 1, A2 class Great Drive-CE Racing #15 somersaulted at the exit of turn 7. Race control had no choice but to send out the safety car. Fortunately the driver was okay and he walked away from the race car. A2 class 13 Racing-Gaoge Racing #66 was up to sixth position before the safety car intervention. Also gaining positions was Shaanxi Tianshi Racing #65. Two laps later, the safety car leaves the track and the race resumes. In the following laps, PetroCanada Star Cars Racing #36 began to attack #71 for second place. After some close fights, they finally made it pass with 11 laps to go.
In the final quarter of the race, teams began to change drivers as the end of the race draws near. With the media team of #17 Yan Yu-Peng/Zeng Yin-Zhuo crosses the finish line in first place, the race is over. The top 3 are #17 Yan Yu-Peng/Zeng Yin-Zhuo , #71 Zhuang Zhi-Jun/Tan Yun and #8 Michael Choi/Kenneth Lau. They also won the Pirelli sponsored "Star of Pirelli" prizes. #36 PetroCanada Star Cars Racing Lei Jun-Bin/Hu Jia-Xin finished second in A2 class. #18 Go Kart Racing Deng Qi-Yan/Liang Yu-Xiang finished third, also in A2 class.
After the race, overall winner Yan Yu-Peng/Zheng Yin-Zhuo said they are using the endurance race vehicle they ran before. It is an older car but it still has good performance. They have found their place in Pan Delta and they will continue to take part.
A2 class winner Zhuang Zhi-Jun/Tan Yu said they enjoyed the race and in their battle against #36 PetroCanada Star Cars Racing's Lei Jun-Bin/Hu Jia-Xin, both teams demonstrated professionalism. It was a fierce fight but both sides gave room to each other.
#18 Go Kart Racing Deng Qi-Yan/Liang Yu-Xiang said finishing third already exceeded their expectations. They came to Pan Delta wanting to experience the event's special atmosphere, they hope to achieve even better results in June.
