On 26 June, Under clear skies and good track conditions, ZIC Superbike Race held its qualifying session. In the end, Shi Zhao Racing #21 Ma Sai takes pole position for the main race tomorrow with a best time of 1:36.243 fastest lap.

Qualifying

The 20 minute qualifying starts at 16:10. After two laps of warming up, Shi Zhao Racing #21 Ma Sai set the fastest lap overall, a 1:36.431 to take provisional pole. Tianshi Kawasaki Racing #2 Yuan Ji-Bo also break into the 1:40 seconds for second place. In the CL3 class, Jim777y Racing #23 Li Fei leads the class with a nearly 2 seconds advantage.

In the middle of the session, #37 falls off at T14. The race officials shows the yellow flag. The session continues. At this time Shi Zhao Racing #122 Huang Yan-Jia and Tianshi Kawasaki Racing #22 Sha Jun-Tong fight over third place overall. The two riders are no more than 0.3 second apart and swap places frequently. In the end #22 Sha Jun-Tong sets a fast lap of 1:40.142 to pull out a 0.273 gap. At the same time, the two female riders Tianshi Kawasaki Racing #12 Zhang Qian-Ying and Jim777y Racing #120 Olivia Jia are also battling it out over CL2 third place.

The last 5 minutes

In the last 5 minutes, the top 3 are basically set. #21 Ma Sai, #2 Yuan Ji-Bo and #22 Sha Jun-Tong occupy the top 3 places. In CL2 class, #120 Olivia Jia leads #12 Zhang Qian-Ying by just 0.009 second for third place in class. In CL3 class #23 Li Fei extends his lead gradually to claim the class win.

In the last minute, #12 Zhang Qian-Ying re-overtakes Olivia Jia for third place in class. After that there is no change of positions. In the end, Shi Zhao Racing #21 Ma Sai takes pole position for tomorrow's race with 1:36.243. #2 Yuan Ji-Bo, #22 and #17 Lin Zhi-Fei have their first 3 laps cancelled for rule infringements. So the top 5 for tomorrow's race are #21 Ma Sai, #2 Yuan Ji-Bo, #122 Huang Yan-Jia, #22 Sha Jun-Tong and #79 Li Hai-Bo.

Main Raced Pole-Sitter is confirmed

Pole position starter Ma Sai said,"The team received the new BMW race machine last year, but have been unable to get to know it. For this race, not only am I trying to regain my race form, but also to gather more data about the race bike in order to prepare for the Speed Hero races next year."

In the CL3 class, most riders are entering the ZIC Superbike Race for the first time. They are making preparations to enter Pan Delta next season. One of the riders, Li Fei, said, "This is the second time I have run on the Zhuhai International Circuit track. It is really a great track, I can also learn from the senior riders and improve myself. If there is the opportunity, I will definitely enter next year's Speed Hero races."
