15 Sep 2018 Creating a Greater Bay Area co-operation sample -Greater Bay Area Lotus Cup
On Saturday 15 September 2018, Pan Delta Super Racing Festival welcomes a new race series – Greater Bay Area Lotus Cup. In order to positively respond and give support to the Greater Bay Area development plan, AAMC, HKAA and Zhuhai Motorsport Association (ZMA) together launched this new race series on 21 July this year. This is the opening round and there are 16 drivers from Hong Kong China, Macau China and mainland China taking part. In the entry list, we can find Hong Kong veteran Lo Ka-Fai, Macau driver Wong Ka-Hong, Mak Ka-Lok and veteran Chinese circuit experts Guo Hai-Sheng and Lin Li-Feng.
In the qualifying session, #10 Hong Kong China driver Lo Ka-Fai sets a fastest lap of 1:55.372 to take the pole position. #18 Tong Yat-Him from Hong Kong China takes second place with 1:53.892. #4 Macau China driver Mak Ka-Lok is third with 1:55.372. In the super class, the top 3 are #9 Huang Shi-Zhao, #2 Lai Jun-Jie and #38 Chen Jian-Bang respectively.
The Greater Bay Area Lotus Cup hopes to use motorsport as a platform to jointly create a sample project for Greater Bay Area co-operation. All race vehicles are provided by Richburg Hong Kong and the race operation is carried out jointly by AAMC, HKAA and ZMA, with each association providing race officials.
In November, Greater Bay Area Lotus Cup will move on to Macau and become a part of the Macau Grand Prix.
