19 Sep 2020 Excellent performance – Jack Ao Ieong Fu takes race 1 victory in ZIC SuperbikeRace
On 19-20 September, Zhuhai Motorsports Association Club Race is held at Zhuhai International Circuit. ZIC Superbike Race 1 is welcomed on track. After a downpour in the morning, the weather and track conditions are much improved for the race, it should be fine for the riders to perform. In the end, Titanic Kawasaki Racing #99 Jack Ao Ieong Fu gave an excellent performance and took the overall victory.
In yesterday’s qualifying session, Titanic Kawasaki Racing #2 Yuan Ji-Bo. #22 Sha Jun-Tong and #99 Jack Ao Ieong Fu performed brilliantly, taking over all 3 starting positions on the first row. In the afternoon at 13:16, race 1 begins. A total of 20 riders are taking part. Due to safety considerations for the recent weather conditions, two warm-up laps will be run and as a result the race distance will be reduced by 1 lap to 9 laps. At the start, #99 Jack Ao Ieong Fu gets away well and moves to the lead. #22 Sha Jun-Tong follows in second place, #2 Yuan Ji-Bo is in third place. At the same time #17 Lin Zhi-Fei overtakes a number of rivals to move up to fourth place.
On lap 2, a rider runs off the circuit into the grass at T5, the marshals show the yellow flag, but the race continues. #2 Yuan Ji-Bo overtakes at T7 and is back to second place, he starts to put pressure on race leader Jack Ao Ieong Fu. The battle for 3rd place is equally intense, #23 Hu Zhao-Neng overtakes #22 Sha Jun-Tong to take third place overall.
As the race approaches half distance, Jack Ao Ieong Fu begins to extend his lead to 2.3 seconds. In the chasing pack, the 3 riders run close together, Hu Zhao-Neng, currently third overall, is passed by Sha Jun-Tong and then Lin Zhi-Fei and drops down to fifth place. In CL2 class, #68 Yu Yao-Long and #36 Jiang Zhuo-Ran are just 0.25 second apart, the two are battling hard for class win. In CL3 class, #911 Jia Rui enjoys a big lead and is clear favourite to win her class.
On the last lap, two riders clash at T7, the marshals show the yellow flag,but the race continues. #17 Lin Zhi-Fei drops down to sixth place due to mechanical issues and loses out on class victory. The order does not see anymore changes, Titanic Kawasaki Racing #99 Jack Ao Ieong Fu wins overall, his teammate #2 Yuan Ji-Bo takes second while #22 Sha Jun-Tong finishes third.
In the various classes, Open class top 3 are #99 Jack Ao Ieong Fu, #2 Yuan Ji-Bo and #23 Hu Zhao-Neng; in CL1 class, top 3 are #79 Li Hai-Bo, #17 Lin Zhi-Fei and #37 Jiang Jiang; for CL2 class, winner is #22 Sha Jun-Tong, second is #68 Yu Yao-Long and #36 Jiang Zhuo-Ran; CL3 class top 3 are #911 Jia Rui, #41 Zhou Pei-Ran and #121 Ma Li.
After the race, overall winner Jack Ao Ieong Fu said, “Today the track conditions are much better than yesterday. My form was good, too. At the start I took my chance and then ran faster and faster in the race. Although the bike has a small problem mid-race, I could manage it. For race 2 tomorrow, I am confident I can take another win.”
