On Saturday 15 September 2018, Circuit Hero-One Race 5 officially begins at 13:10, the race is 40 minutes long and the winner will have to complete 15 laps. The grandstand at Zhuhai International Circuit is filled to the rafters. According to the results from the qualifying session in the morning, Zun Motorsport Crew’s driver Adderly Fong will start the race on pole position. Second place on the grid will be Adderly’s teammate Alexandre Imperatori, while third place starter is Julio Acosta from Jiayin Racing.

After the formation lap the race begins, Zun Motorsport Crew driver Adderly Fong makes a very fast start and goes into the lead. Teammate Alexandre Imperatori touches other cars at turn 1 and spins around. Behind them, Jiayin Racing driver Julio Acosta takes the opportunity to pass Alexandre for second place. Shaanxi Tianshi Racing’s Wiser Massimiliano maintains third place. The three drivers soon form a leading trio. Zun Motorsport Crew’s Adderly Fong sets a fastest lap of 1:32.912 on lap two, breaking the 1:33 barrier. On lap 4, Zun Motorsport Crew’s other driver Lin Yi-Ming has a problem at turn 9. On lap 6, Lin Ying-Jie spins at turn 10 and hits the wall. The marshals show the yellow flag and the safety car is deployed. The weather is very hot right now and the physical demand on driving in this temperature is very high. On lap 10, Shaanxi Tianshi Racing’s Wiser Massimiliano closes in on Jiayin Racing’s Julio Acosta and passes him on lap 11 in a door clashing move at turn 5.

In the end, Zun Motorsport Crew’s Adderly Fong wins overall and in class C. Juuso Puhakka from Jiayin Racing wins in class D. Filipe Souza finishes first in class B2 while Kuang Can-Wei takes class B1 honours. Cheng Chun-Hua wins in class A for Foshan XJ Racing and Zhu Yue wins class E for Shaanxi Tianshi Racing.

After the race, Zun Motorsport Crew driver Adderly Fong said, “I am very happy about the race result, I remember 14 years ago when my teammate won the race and I was 18th. Now I am the winner after a lot of hard work over the years.”Wiser Massimiliano from Shaanxi Tianshi Racing said, “Thanks to the safety car, I found this overtaking opportunity, I was very lucky today.”
