14 Sep 2018 Finally reached this moment! Final dash begins now -Speed Hero Qualifying

On Friday 14 September 2018, Zhuhai International Circuit is under a hot sun and all the racing teams and drivers at the track are ready to go. The two groups of Speed Hero will officially begin their qualifying session at 16:00 this afternoon. There is a total of 44 riders taking part. As the most historic and professional motorcycle race series in the country, the race series was upgraded to FIM zonal international race series from 2017. Apart from top class riders, the race format is also innovative, the main race will see both groups racing together. (Both groups start the race at the same time.)

In order to obtain the best starting position in the main race, all the riders readied themselves to challenge to set their best personal lap time. At the start of qualifying, 600cc class start first, on lap 1, Lin Zhi-Fei sets a personal best of 1:41.559. But on lap 2, Li Zheng-Peng topples him with a 1:40.899. The battle is already very fierce. On lap 4, Li Zheng-Peng tries to better himself and breaks into 1:40s barrier, he manages a best lap of 1:39.213 and laughs to the end as he gets pole position in CL1 class. Lin Zhi-Fei settles for CL2 class pole position with a 1:40.847 lap time. 

Next up are the 1000cc class qualifying. Alessandro Valia from CER Ducati HK racing performs a stunning lap of 1:34.414. At the same time, on lap 3, Huang Shi-Zhao sets a lap of 1:35.754 and is placed second. Then he keeps pushing and on lap 9 he improves to 1:35.189. In the end, CER Ducati HK racing’s Alessandro Valia takes Open A class pole position, while Huang Shi-Zhao is on pole position for Open B class.

At the moment, the classification for each rider is: 600cc CL1 Li Zheng-Peng has 100 points and is in 1st place. Chow Ho-Wan has 80 points in second place. In 600cc CL2 Lin Zhi-Fei is in 1st place with 100 points, Mai Zhi-Cong is second with 54 points. In 1000cc Open A class, CER Ducati-HK racing’s Alessandro Valia has 100 points in 1st place, Dan Kruger is second with 72 points. In 1000cc Open B class, Huang Shi-Zhao leads with 100 points while Shaanxi Tianshi Racing’s Ma Sai is second with 80 points.
