22 Mar 2019 Gloomy weather cannot dampen the riders’ passions Li Zheng-Peng takes Speed Hero pole position
On 22 March Friday, Zhuhai’s gloomy weather was unable to dampen the riders’ desire for the pole position of the race. 2019 Pan Delta Super Racing Festival – Speed Hero qualifying session officially begins at 14:50.
First on track is the Speed Hero 600cc qualifying session. The session is 20 minutes long with 22 riders taking part. At the start, #76 Wada Ruka posts a 1:39.117 to set the ball rolling. #777 Li Zhong sets a 1:39.630 to place himself second. At half distance, the riders begin to go even quicker, Wada Ruka sets a 1:39.109 to push the pole position further out of reach of the others. Maxpeedingrods Racing’s Ma Sai improves to second with 1:39.372. Li Zhong is down to third and 0.258 second behind.
After 10 minutes, Speed Hero 1,000cc qualifying begins with 13 riders fighting for the pole position.
After two laps of running, #26 Li Zheng-Peng sets a 1:34.919 to lead the field. Then on lap 4 he improves to 1:33.994, 1.66 seconds quicker than second placed Maxpeedingrods Racing rider Huang Shi-Zhao. Only 7 riders can get below 1:40s.
According to the regulations, the Speed Hero 600cc/1000cc qualifying results will be combined to form the starting grid for tomorrow’s race. The riders on the front two rows are: #26 Li Zheng-Peng, Maxpeedingrods Racing #9 Huang Shi-Zhao, #7 Mark Aitchison, #71 Dan Kruger, #99 Jack Ao Ieong Fu and #59 He Zhi-Feng.
Tomorrow, 23 March, Speed Hero 600cc/1000cc will fight for the race win on track. Although there are four different classes, the riders will still undoubedtly go for overall honours. It is just too close to call.
