24 Mar 2019 Half dry half wet surface creates great challenge | Li Zheng-Peng wins again in Speed Hero Race 2
On 24 March 2019, Pan Delta Super Racing Festival Spring Race enters its second race day. Speed Hero carries out its second race in the afternoon. #26 Li Zheng-Peng performs brilliantly to score his second overall victory, #7 Mark Aitchison finishes in second place with Maxpeedingrods Racing #9 Huang Shi-Zhao in third place.
The first race yesterday was a great spectacle, the tos and fros among the riders was very exciting. Today the rain has eased off but the half dry half wet track provides a different challenge. At 13:10 in the afternoon, Speed Hero race 2 officially begins.
Li Zheng-Peng makes a good start, #7 Mark Aitchison follows him closely, the two riders begin their battle and it is a very good fight. After one lap, Maxpeedingrods Racing #9 Huang Shi-Zhao gets up to third place.
At the end of lap 2, Li Zheng-Peng manages a fastest lap time of 1:41.740. Second and third continue to be Mark Aitchison and Huang Shi-Zhao. At half distance, the track begins to dry and it is wearing out the wet weather tyres and the riders need to be more careful. The top 3 are now comfortably ahead of the rest. The chasing pack is led by #59 He Zhi-Feng and #71 Dan Kruger.
Soon the leading trio encounter backmarkers and are delayed. 600cc class Yuan Ji-Bo and Maxpeedingrods Racing #21 Ma Sai are having a great battle for the class lead. In the end, Yuan Ji-Bo successfully overtakes Ma Sai.
In the final stages of the race, the wet weather tyres are more or less worn out. #26 Li Zheng-Peng works hard to maintain the balance of his bike and he crosses the line to win again. #7 Mark Aitchison and Maxpeedingrods Racing #9 Huang Shi-Zhao finish second and third respectively. Sadly #17 Lin Zhi-Fei goes off into the gravel at the final moment, losing his class victory.
In the end, 1000cc Open A class top 3 are #26 Li Zheng-Peng, #7 Mark Aitchison and #9 Maxpeedingrods Racing Huang Shi-Zhao. For 1000cc Open B class, the top 3 are #59 He Zhi-Feng, Maxpeedingrods Racing #12 Huang Yan-Jia and #93 Gideon Lee. In 600cc class 1, the first 3 finishers are #2 Yuan Ji-Bo, Maxpeedingrods Racing #21 Ma Sai and #76 Wada Ruka. In class 2, the top 3 are Maxpeedingrods Racing #75 Wang Xiao-Yuan, #22 Sha Jun-Tong and #24 Liu Chuang.
After the race, double race winner Li Zheng-Peng said, “I am very happy to have successfully completed this weekend’s races. Yesterday the track was wet, today the track is half dry and half wet, both were great challenges. For today’s track conditions, I tried my best to find wet patches on the circuit to run on. Throttle control must be good so that the bike’s power is gradually applied. In the summer race, I will try to be even better. I will work on my fitness and maintain my form, hopefully I can break my fastest lap record.”
