06 Dec 2019 Hong Yuan Racing #77 takes pole position by a small margin—Speed Hero 3 Hours Endurance Race qualifying

The warm winter weather in Zhuhai provides perfect racing conditions for the Speed Hero 3 Hours Endurance Race qualifying session this afternoon. In the end, #77 Hong Yuan Racing Li Hong/Huang Yan-Jia/Ma Sai takes pole position by a small margin.

Qualifying officially begin

Qualifying session officially begins at 16:10 and it is 30 minutes long. 12 teams and 23 rider groups are entered for the race. The session starts, after 3 laps, Dainese Lash Racing #453 Alex Lei, Gideon Lee and Jack Ao Ieong Fu set the ball rolling with a 1:36.740. Dan Kruger Racing #71 Dan Kruger/Wu Rong-Zhi also manages a 1:37.716 to go second. Only these two groups are able to break into the 1:40s. Afterwards all the groups go faster and faster, among them Hong Yuan Racing #77 Li Hong/Huang Yan-Jia/Ma Sai and Titanic Racing Team #1 Yu Yao-Long/Sha Jun-Tong both break into the 1:40s.

At mid-session, the order begins to settle, #77 Li Hong/Huang Yan-Jia/Ma Sai performs very well and sets a 1:39.220 fastest lap and get itself up to third place. But the gap to the front duo is still quite big. In the final 10 minutes, Jim777y GT Racing Team #777 and #72 both change riders. At the same time Hong Yuan Racing #77 sets the fastest lap overall 1:36.548 and moves up to first place.

After that there are no more changes to the order and qualifying is over. In the end, Hong Yuan Racing #77 Li Hong/Huang Yan-Jia/Ma Sai group takes pole position for the race tomorrow. From second to fifth positions the teams are: Dainese Lash Racing #453 Alex Lei/Gideon Lee/Jack Ao Ieong Fu, Dan Kruger Racing #71 Dan Kruger/Wu Rong-Zhi, Titanic Racing Team #1 Yu Yao-Long/Sha Jun-Tong and Dream Team #7 Chen Xuan-Ming/Hong Jiang-Ping group.
