07 Aug 2011 2011 China Superbike Championship (Beijing Round) Race Two Post Race Press Conference
SS600cc
Winner: Xiao Jin (Yes! Yamaha Tianjian Racing)
At the start of race two I was in front again, in the middle of the race I had a little fight with Shi-Zhao, his bike brushed against mine, but I held on. I thought to myself that I had to stay in front. I never gave up and for around 10 laps in the middle of the race, I did not want to see my board. But eventually I took a look and it said I had 11 more laps to go. I almost gave up. But I had not raced at the front for a long time so I persisted. I set fastest laps in the early laps because I really desired victory. In the morning I ran a little conservatively, trying to be safe so I didn’t run so well. In the afternoon it was the last race, I had to give my all and it was actually easier.
1st Runner’s Up: Huang Shi-Zhao (Yes! Yamaha Tianjian Racing)
The second race was really exciting. At the start I fought for the first corner with Xiao Jin but my rear tyre could not take it, also I was concerned about my tyre wear. Maybe the tyre wear was too much so only 10 laps later the bike was sliding around. In the latter half of the race, I chose to ride more conservatively. But today Xiao Jin was really quick, even if I could match him, to pass him would have been very difficult.
2nd Runner’s Up: Li Peng-Yu (Tianyu DTU Racing)
At the start of today’s race two, my clutch had a problem, so I didn’t make a clean start. In the first 10 laps I fought with other riders, I only saw my teammate Huang Zhi-Yu and another rider in front of me in the second half of the race. I caught them but unfortunately the other rider fell off. I had two passes against Huang Zhi-Yu, but his water temperature went up so I went ahead. I am very happy to take third place. But it was not the fastest lap times either Huang Zhi-Yu or I had done, I am more than 2 seconds slower than my personal best time at Beijing. Huang Zhi-Yu is also more than 1 second slower. Actually we had a lot of things to sort out before the race, we could not focus on training and racing. Hopefully we can achieve better results in the next two rounds.
150cc Open class
Winner: Qiu Ming-Xian (SYM Jiguang Racing)
Sadly I lost the win this morning in race one, so in the afternoon I said to myself I must win it back. But I did not make a good start and dropped to fifth with a big gap to the leader. Then I calmed myself down and tried to close the gap step by step. After five or six laps, I found that I have closed in on the leading group, then I took my chance to pass them lap by lap. In the last few laps, I caught my teammate and had a battle with him. I am very happy that I am lucky enough to win this race. Maybe my starting technique is poor so I fell back at the start. Due to the choice of racing lines my racing line is overlapped with the rider in front of me. I could only follow their mistakes and I was stuck in the traffic. In the end I felt I could not wait any more so I went for every gap at every opportunity.
1st Runner’s Up: Qiu Shi-Yi (SYM Jiguang Racing)
Today in race one I was careless and crashed with my teammate, so I did not get any results. In the afternoon I felt I had a good race in the morning, I just had to be steady and careful to finish in a good position. In the end that’s what I did.
2nd Runner’s Up: Zhou Hang-Kai (SYM Jiguang Racing)
First of all thank you to everyone in the team who worked hard to tune up our bikes. This morning’s race was very smooth. But near the end due to my own mistake, my front wheel hit his rear and both of us went off. I am very sorry to him and also to the team that we did not get any results. So in race two we decided to be steady and the important thing was to protect our teammates. In race two I had a good start and ran at the front. Then my teammate came up and I did not fight him. Teamwork was important and in the end all 3 of us took good results.
