11 May 2011 2011 China Superbike Championship Zhuhai Opening Round Race 2 - Top 3 riders post race press conference
SS600cc Winner
Huang Shi-Zhao (Yes! Yamaha Tianjian Racing)
Today's race was quite exciting, because at the start, Xiao Jin was very fast, I could only follow him. Then my front brakes had a problem, I fought with him for 5 or 6 laps. After the brakes were setup I took the lead. I have to thank the entire Yes! Yamaha team again.
(Any special celebrations this evening?) Yes, I need to buy Xiao Jin dinner. He was just too quick at the start, both races he overook me.
(Yamaha organized a huge group of fans to cheer for the team, does that give you pressure or motivation?) The manufacturer coming over to the track to cheer for the team is a very good thing for me. But right now only Yamaha is doing it. We need this kind of atmosphere. I hope in the coming races more manufacturers will organize similar activities. Although the racing is very exciting, we still have much to do to promote the races. Compared with the past, our CSBK is among the best in national motorsports. I dare to say in terms of race operation, atmosphere, logisitics support etc, we are ahead of some of the foreign races. Racing at home, I am under more pressure, since I have raced for over 10 years, but I am still very confident in this race.
(The feeling of being a dad) Having a child is fun, I often treat him like a doll, at least when I hold him he won't cry and I can play with him. But he is a "timed bomb" and wakes me up at unexpected hours. But still I feel very happy, at home when I look at him I feel he has my (racing) blood, I really feel that he does!
SS600cc 1st Runner's Up
Xiao Jin (Yes! Yamaha Tianjian Racing)
I feel my start in this race was just as fast. After a few laps racing against Master Huang, I felt I am still a little bit of his level. I stayed behind to try to learn his skills. In the end it was still my fitness problem, I could only run in 2nd place. Still we are of the same team. I would like to thank Yamaha and all the media.
(You and Huang Shi-Zhao had lots of passes and re-passes, how was that?) We mainly wanted to entertain the crowd. Ha ha. As we are from the same time we did not want to race each other too hard. Then I thought I had been in second place for too long so I wanted to give it a try, so we had this little battle. But maybe due to lack of practice on my side, I lacked fitness to be more aggressive, I hope in the next round I can stay ahead of him.
SS600cc 2nd Runner's Up
Xu Wei-Long
Today I did two race, the first one because I had a fuel line problem so I didn't do well. In race 2 I felt the setup wasn't good at the start. I decided to wait and see. The bike's rear suspension also had a slight problem. I was under a lot of pressure because the bike was vibrating through the corners. Later I was able to relax, run at my own pace and stop comparing myself with the two Tianjian riders in front. I did not know I was running in third place then. I thought of myself as a supporting cast and the guys besides me are the main cast.
(What does your family think about your racing career?) My family is quite worried. But on the racing circuit it is more professional and it is safer. Therefore I always treat motorsport as a way of relaxation. I am quite busy but I will come to practice and race whenever I can. I will just relax with my seasoned mechanics.
150cc Winner
Qiu Ming-Xian (SYM Jiguang Racing)
This race weekend can only be described by the word "hurry". Since our bikes have been readied for less than a month, with no testing, we could only use this race as data gathering tests. Today's result is very satisfactory. For today's race, I did not make a good start and I was following my teammate. After the speed went up I charged forward, fortunately passing my little friend here at turn 14.
(What's your view on defending your crown?) I am not thinking that far ahead. I am confident in myself. I don't dare to say I will surely win the 150cc title this year, but I am confident. I am just not very confident about my weight. The two people besides me right now are my competitorsand this little friend is very quick.
150cc 1st Runner's Up
Chen Peng-Yuan (Loncin Dexi Racing)
I am Chen Peng-Yuan, I am 14 this year and I am from Guiding, Guizhou. My team is Loncin Dexi Racing. The team's mechanics and logistics personnel work very well together. The bike is setup very well. At the last corner of race 2, I think I exited the corner a little too slowly and allowed this big brother to pass. I am very fortunate to finish second and I want to thank my team's mechanics and logistics support people.
(Why did you change teams?) It was arranged by my coach. I just listened to my coach.
(How's the working relationship with the team?) I joined the team only recently, everything is just at the beginning, next round will be better.
(What's your advantage?) My advantage is my light weight.
(What's your expectation for this year?) Try to finish all the races and achieve good results.
150cc 2nd Runner's Up
Zhou Hang-Kai (SYM Jiguang Racing)
Firstly, I want to thank everyone at SYM Jiguang Racing who helped us to achieve such excellent results. In the second race today, I made a reasonable start, my teammate's bike was very fast and I could not follow him early on. Slowly I managed to catch up. I tried a few times to pass my teammate and our rival, but then I didn't do so well in some corners, that led to the last lap at turn 14 when I couldn't run faster and missed the win. But third place is still a very good result for me.
(Any pressure in the race?) Of course we felt the pressure from our rival. Chen Peng-Yuan is young, motivated, fast and light weight. He has many advantages and he is a force to be reckoned with.
