After half an hour's rest, 2011 CSBK Zhuhai Opening Round's 2nd qualifying session begins at 2:50pm. As usual, 150cc Open class takes to the track first. With some adjustments, reigning champion Tianyu DTU Racing shows its true colours, its trio of riders Zhou Hang-Kai, Qiu Shi-Yi and Qiu Ming-Xian quickly establish themselves in the top 3 positions. Loncin Dexi Racing's Chen Peng-Yuan and Cai Zheng-You follow closely behind.
But Chen Peng-Yuan's performance with the Loncin GP150 was already evident in the 1st session. As expected, Chen Peng-Yuan quickly set a time of 2:22.788 to topple the three SYM machines. Meanwhile, the Wuyang-Honda riders have not yet set any time. At the beginning of the session, Young Cubs Racing's team personnel said because they have been very busy preparing, not all the parts have arrived. Maybe they are saving some valuable parts today in order to have a good performance tomorrow?
In the final stages, Tianyu DTU's riders once closed the gap to Chen Peng-Yuan to about 0.6 second, but still no breakthrough. In the end, Chen Peng-Yuan takes pole position once again, while Qiu Ming-Xian takes second place, 0.088 second behind. Zhou Hang-Kai is another 0.265 second behind in third place. Chen Peng-Yuan, the 2010 Chinese Autosports Awards' Rookie of the Year Award winner, thus secure pole position for the 150cc Open class race on 8th May.
