07 Nov 2010 2010 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup - 1000km of Zhuhai
The Intercontinental Le Mans Cup was established by the Automobile Club de l’Quest in 2010. There were three races that year: Silverstone 1000km (United Kingdom), Petit Le Mans (Road Atlanta, Georgia, USA) and 1000km of Zhuhai (China).
The 1000 km of Zhuhai, China was held from 5th to 7th November at Zhuhai International Circuit. There were a total of 23 cars taking part in 7 different categories, namely LMP1, LMP2, FLM, LMGT1, LMGT2, LMGTH and LMGTC.
After more than 5 hours of heated battle, Peugeot’s no. 2 car won the race ahead of Audi’s no. 7 car. It also broke Zhuhai International Circuit’s lap record by setting a 1:21.868 lap.
Peugeot won the LMP1 team as well as the manufacturers' titles. In LMGT2, Ferrari won the manufacturers' title while Team Felbermayr-Proton won the LMGT2 teams' championship.
Chinese driver Zhang Shan-Qi won the FLM class for his Hope Polevision racing team, while Chinese Hong Kong driver Marchy Lee won the LMGTC class. More than 10,000 spectators attended the event over 3 days, creating a carnival like atmosphere within the track.
