17 Sep 2016 Circuit Hero-Three: Gary Sham takes pole position
At 16:45 on Saturday 17 September 2016, Circuit Hero-Three qualifying begins. The small capacity cars like Honda Fit, Suzuki Swift, Toyota Yaris, Toyota Vitz complete their 20 minutes session under a setting sun. The results of this session will affect tomorrow’s starting positions of the race, therefore the drivers all try very hard to set good times.
After a lap of tyre warming, many drivers go for a quick lap time on their second lap. Peugeot RCZ driver Gary Sham manages a 1:56.546 lap, setting the bar high for other competitors. In A3 class, Huang Zhi-Cong’s Toyota Vitz set the ball rolling with 2:00.043 while in A5 class Lin Zhe leads with 2:04.380 in a Honda Fit.
After the early rush, the drivers take a break to examine their lap times. Then on lap 5 Luo Wei-Qi and Huang Zhi-Cong sets new personal bests, both getting into the 2 minute barrier, setting times of 1:58.444 and 1:59.937 respectively. Other drivers sense that the track conditions improved and rush on to the track as well, although a few drivers return to the pits soon, probably reserving the car for the race tomorrow.
The 20 minutes qualifying session soon comes to a close. Gary Sham successfully takes pole position, with Luo Wei-Qi and Li De-Rong behind him. Circuit Hero-Three will take place at 10:20 on Sunday morning, let’s see if they will have anymore breakthrough achievements.
