29 May 2016 ZIC Superbike race - Marks perfect weekend

At 1:35pm on 20 March 2016, Pan Delta Spring Race ZIC Superbike stages its final race of the weekend. Different from yesterday, todays superbike race combines the 34 fastest riders in the 600cc and 1000cc superbike races from yesterday. In order to give the 600cc riders more freedom and space, yesterday 600cc and 1000cc held their own races. According to the final results, the 34 fastest riders enter todays race. For the young riders in 600cc, this is a faster and more crowded race. It will be an opportunity to enhance their skills though.

According to yesterdays results, Mark Aitchison is on pole position, Joshua Waters is second, Huang Shi-Zhao is third while Li Zheng-Peng, Zhang Wei-An and Ouyang Fu are fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. Yesterday Li Zheng-Peng and Zhang Wei-An raced each other directly, will there be more sparks from this pair today?

Red lights go off and race begins. Mark makes a good start to lead into turn 1, behind him Huang Shi-Zhao gets to the inside line and is up to second. But it is not to last, Huangs bike wobbles and Joshua Waters takes the place back. At the end of lap 1, Mark, Joshua, Huang Shi-Zhao are in the top 3, followed by Li Zheng-Peng and Zhang Wei-An. On lap 3, the top 5 have pulled away from each other, the gap averages 2 seconds which is not easy to overcome at this level.

In the end, Mark Aitchison easily takes his second win of the weekend. Joshua Waters is second and Huang Shi-Zhao is third. Li Zheng-Peng and Zhang Wei-An finish in fourth and fifth places.

After the race, Mark Aitchison said,"I made a good start but I had some problems with my brakes. There was some drizzle today and the track was wet, not giving us as much grip as yesterday. We are still getting to understand the bike. I want to thank everyone here, I am really happy to be racing here."

Huang Shi-Zhao today faced some issues. "After the end of yesterdays race, the mechanics changed the front suspension for me. But today we found this set of suspension vibrates a lot, there was no way to go faster. I could only focus on finishing the race. Fortunately I could still finish in third place. When we go back we have to setup the bike again. Our bike is not as well modified as Marks bike. We have not changed anything on the engine except the computer. Time was too tight. From now on we will do more comprehensive modifications for the summer race."

600cc winner Yuan Ji-Bo said,"Today I did not start well. When I started some riders passed me. I slowly made some changes and took my chances. I spent two laps to regain my position. For this race it is a little confusing to race with the 1000cc guys. When I got to the first place in class I did not push and just followed the 1000cc riders."
