16 Sep 2017 Chen Wei-An wins again - Circuit Hero-One Race 5

In the Pan Delta Super Racing Festival Autumn Race qualifying session on 16 Sep, #4 Chai Hui-Bang takes pole position with 1:37.478. Right behind him is points leader Chen Wei-An with 1:37.655. #88 Liu Peng, driving the new Audi R8 LMS GT3 is in third position.

At 13:28, the race begins with a rolling start after the formation lap. #88 Liu Peng uses his speed advantage to take the lead into the first corner. Behind him Chai Hui-Bang continuosly puts pressure on him and makes the pass at T10. Liu Peng then makes a small mistake and drops down to third place. Chai Hui-Bang and Chen Wei-An soon opens up a gap to the cars behind them and form the lead group.

On lap 3, #8 Huang Jia-Kang's EVO race car suffers a problem and is into the pit lane for repairs. Meantime Chai Hui-Bang and Chen Wai-An are fighting hard for the race lead.

On lap 7, Chen Wei-An passes Chai Hui-Bang and now leads the race overall. By now the lead group is lapping backmarkers.  #8 Huang Jia-Kang returns to the action but then it breaks down again, with fire coming out of its rear end. Huang Jia-Kang has to retire from the race.

The race has 5 laps remaining, Chen Wei-An now leads Chai Hui-Bang by 4 seconds and the order seems settled.

The chequered flag is shown and Chen Wei-An takes it as he goes across the finish line. Chai Hui-Bang finishes second, 1.8 seconds behind. Liu Peng finishes third overall and wins class D. Wang Guo-Yu takes fourth place, Lee Bing-Hui finishes sixthe and is the winner of class A.

Chen Wei-An said today's race is hot and is the most difficult race of the season. He started off by conserving his car's potential, but even so the performance of the car deterioated late in the race. The tyres were good. For tomorrow's race he won't worry about his starting position, he will only focus on a steady performance. Second place Chai Hui-Bang said if he has 3 more laps then he maybe able to catch Chen. The backmarkers had some effects on his lap time. Liu Peng said he had a perfect start, but then made many mistakes and dropped to third. Tomorrow's race he will fight hard to try to win.
