14 Jun 2014 Clio R5 R6 Qualifying: Chen Wei An and Naomi Schiff claimed poles

 New Clio Cup driver Chen Wei An stormed to pole for R5, while Naomi Schiff got pole in R6. Meanwhile, Alex Fong Chun Shun was fastest in Class B for both qualifying.

At the start of the first qualifying session, Chen Wei An quickly set his benchmark and got provisional pole early on. He then set the best lap of 1:58.085 and took his first pole in Clio Cup China series by a comfortable margin. Championship leader Naomi Schiff followed behind in 2nd, while series returnee Byron Tong got 3rd. Yu Kam Cheong and Alan Lee got 4th and 5th.

Alex Fong Chun Shun scored a stunning 6th and the fastest in Class B, ahead of FRD’s Kenneth Ma and fellow celebrity Chin Ka Lok. Huang Yi and Ye Xingping complete the top 10. Hu Cheng Wei took 11th, just ahead of Cary Yau. Yang Xu struggled to 13th while Song Bo got 14th. Jacquelin Ch’ng is back in 15th.

For the second qualifying session, Naomi Schiff regained her speed and claimed pole position for R6 by a 1:58.522 lap. Byron Tong got 2nd, while Chen Wei An was back in 3rd. Alan Lee, Kenneth Ma and Yu Kam Cheong followed behind. Alex Fong Chun Shun was 7th, fastest in Class B. Huang Yi, Hu Cheng Wei and Song Bo completes the top 10.

Ye Xingping got 11th ahead of Chin Ka Lok and a struggling Yang Xu and Cary Yau. Jacquelin Ch’ng set her best lap in this circuit and got 15th.
