17 Mar 2014 Asian Formula Renault Series to enter its 15th Anniversary

March 22 will be a memorable day for Asian Formula Renault Series (AFR), as the date would mark the start of the 15th season of this pioneering racing series in Asia.

FRD’s Kenneth Ma brought the prestigious Formula Renault cars to Asia back in 2000. Knowing the fact that Formula Renault is the most successful junior racing series in Europe, which produced F1 Champions like KimiRaikkonen, Lewis Hamilton, and the Series is one of the first Formula Racing Series in China, created a great boom in Asian region and attracted many racing drivers to take part. To date, AFR Series is still one of the most participated junior racing series in the region and it continues to grow.

In this year’s AFR, the Series still attracts the greatest teams in the region to participate including Asia Racing Team and PS Racing, with defending champion Champ Motorsport would still be the team to beat. Taiwan’s KRC team and the newly established Q Team have also registered for the first race of the season.

With all the veteran teams and drivers’ presents, AFR Series also expands its calendar this year. Apart from the normal visits to Zhuhai International Circuit, the Series will also have rounds in F1 circuits in Shanghai and Sepang, Malaysia.

Zhuhai will hold the first round of this great season in March 22-23 during the Pan Delta Super Series weekend. The season is now raring to go and drivers can’t wait any longer to get back into the cockpit.
