14 Mar 2014 Get ready! Get ready! 2014 Pan Delta Super Racing Festival Spring Race is ready to start
The spring of 2014 has arrived along with Pan Delta Super Racing Festival, are you ready?
While most places in northern China is still under deep winter weather, the southern coastal city of Zhuhai is already welcoming the arrival of spring. On 22-23 March 2014, Pan Delta Super Racing Festival Spring Race will be upon us at the oldest permanent motor racing circuit in China, the Zhuhai International Circuit. The race will signal the beginning of the Chinese motorsport season.
When Pan Delta knocks on the door
All the while, Pan Delta's core value has been organizing spectacular motorsport events for the fans. It has also established grassroot motorsport in China by creating the phenomenal Circuit Hero race series. It has caused some fans to turn from inexperienced everyday drivers to properly prepared race car drivers. They have done this transformation by turning to the various tuning shops around the country, in the process bringing in many local sponsors. Pan Delta has never aimed to make money from Circuit Hero and has never felt content with its success. It originates from the fans and belongs to the fans, it will continue to grow with the fans support.
Five year ago, Circuit Hero had to divide into different classes due to the large number of entries. Cars are differentiated by their engine sizes, the division further attracted people from the industry. Today, in the spring of 2014, Circuit Hero grows again and launches the Circuit Hero V Challenge. It shakes off the conventional "apply for entry" model and will instead select the best entries from Circuit Hero Two as its entries. The best lap times set in Circuit Hero Two race will be used as the qualifying time for this race, allowing the drivers to perform once more in front of the spectators.
The establishement of this system once again breaks the conventional Chinese regional motorsport mould. This new race will grant further glory to the successful participants.
Apart from Circuit Hero, Pan Delta also retained Red Bull Drift Challenge, ZIC Superbike Championship and Asian AFR Series, all popular races to the fans. In the Clip Cup China race, famous model Jacquelin Chong and actor Alex Fong Chun Shun will also take part, adding more glamour to the Pan Delta event.
Non-stop entertainment
Pan Delta is a festival for fans, apart from the race, Pan Delta also organizes various entertainment activities both on and off the track.
The biggest draw on track is undoubtedly Red Bull Drift Challenge. It was first established in 2013. It has since become one of the main attractions of the Pan Delta Super Racing Festival. In last year's summer and autumn races, drivers from Japan's D1 series and Italy also took part, taking the event to the top level in China. For the upcoming event, Hong Kong driver James Tang, Italian Federico Sceriffo and Japanese D1 regular Kuniaki Takahashi will all be taking part. Takahashi has been the stunt driver in the hit Hong Kong movie "Initial D". His participation will certainly make the race even more exciting.
The Red Bull Drift Challenge is divided into Preliminary, Re-birth and Final. In the preliminary and re-birth sessions, drivers perform their drift maneuvers individually and will be rated by a panel of judges. In the final, a "Two Car Chase" system will be used. This is the most spectacular form of the race, as drivers go one-on-one in battles. The chasing car must simulate the route and actions of the leading car. There are 10 points in each chase and the judges will decide how the points are distributed to the two drivers.
The 2014 Red Bull Drift Challenge Spring Race has added the "Boxer" device. It is a balloon and it will be hung up in a corner. The driver must try to hit the balloon with part of the car as they drift round the corner. Successful drivers will get extra points. This interesting addition not only added difficulty to the race, it is also more interesting to the watching fans.
Surprises beyond the track
While there is a lot of on track action, off track there are plenty for the fans to see and do, too. This year's Spring Race sees Red Bull increases their interactive play area. Spectators can upload their Red Bull Drift Challenge pictures onto their WeChat friend circle, once they received 30 likes they can get a free can of Red Bull energy drink. At the same time, spectators may take a spin in a kart and experience motor sport.
In the car exhibition area, 5 hundred years old vintage cars will be on display, allowing the visitors to learn about the history of the auto industry. In the Yamaha area, 2013 ZIC Superbike Champion Huang Shi-Zhao will be on hand to sign autographs and meet fans. Apart from these activities, there is plenty of food, Malaysian products, French perfume, FullyPower lubricants...etc. Everything you need will be there.
Another item worth mentioning is that with Pan Delta's fan base increasing, ticket sales have skyrocketed. Last year VIP and Guest tickets were swept up by eager fans who want to mingle with the teams and drivers/riders. For this year's Spring Race, the tickets have been even harder to get. This is proof positive of Pan Delta's commercial success.
