21 Dec 2013 2013 AFR Finale: Acosta and Shimono’s showdown at Zhuhai
After a long season, 2013 AFR Series is going to come to an end this weekend at Zhuhai as Champ’s Julio Acosta and Buzz Racing’s Shigetomo Shimono will have a final showdown for the Championship as the 3 Classes will have their battle settled.
Acosta is having a comfortable points’ lead over Japan’s Shimono as he has a much consistent campaign so far. If he can score a 1st runner up finish, he will be assured of the Championship. Shimono, despite winning more races than any other drivers, is trailing behind and will hope for mishap from Acosta in order to create miracle. He needs to take both victories in International Class in order to keep his championship hope alive. Meanwhile for the final podium spot, Sideway Driving Club/ChildFund driver Pete Olson of PS Racing will try to score points to beat the others for that position.
Meanwhile in Asian Class, Jason Kang form KRC is leading the Championship with 135 points as 2 drivers will try to hunt him down. Champ’s Bob Yuan will return to the series and PS Racing’s Neric Wei is still having a slim chance on taking the title. Yet, they will have to watch out for youngster Leo Ye during the race, as he won in the Class in the last 2 rounds.
Masters Class title is unsettled as well as Leo Wong and ART teammate Thomas Luedi will battle it out for the title.
