19 Sep 2013 Record breaking season finale - Pan Delta Super Racing Festival (Autumn Race) Circuit Hero Two report
In the afternoon of 15 September 2013, Pan Delta Super Racing Festival (Autumn Race) Circuit Hero Two race is successfully completed. The race is won by no. 115 Li Kai-Long in his Honda FD2.
As the season finale, Circuit Hero Two is the most popular race of the weekend. Not only because the cars closely resembles their street counterparts, but the number of local car tuners and drivers gathered for the race. Everyone wants to find out if their favourite brand or driver will perform well. On the other hand, the race has a record breaking 53 entries, the grid extends all the way to the last corner. For this reason, the race organizers emphasized on the safety issues at the start of the race. With 53 cars setting off together, plenty of overtaking action is sure to come.
For the titles in the various classes, in class A more than 4 drivers are competing for the title. Xie Zheng-Ge is leading by just 1 point and 3 drivers are tied for second. It is worth noting that Xie had an accident in qualifying and did not achieve a good grid position. In class B, Li Jai-Tao's absence means the title battle is between Lai Yi-Hui and Guang Chan-Wei. They are third and fourth in qualifying respectively. Wang Yu-Tao in class C and Li Zi-Gong in class D are clear favourites due to their massive points advantage, while in class E Liu Xiao-Hong and Gao Ying-Jie are tied in first place, with Gao three places ahead on the grid of the final race.
In the main race, the massive 53 cars start causes problems, but not at turn 1 as most people expected. Deng Gui-Feng's car changes direction to avoid the stalled car in front of him, but he has not noticed the Golf GTi of Xiao Ka-Wei and hit him. Xiao's car hits the wall and is heavily damanged. The race officials call out the safety car to put a stop on proceedings until the damaged car is removed.
Two laps later, the race is resumed. Class A leader Xie Zheng-Ge has moved up to 3rd place in the starting mayhem, with all his title rivals behind him. All he now has to do is finish in his current position. He actually manages to improve on this as one of the competitors in front of him drops out and he finishes second overall. Lai Yi-Hui and Guang Chan-Wei's class B battle are very fierce as the duo overtakes and re-overtakes each other, with a dramatic ending. Lai Yi-Hui overcomes his rival to finish seven overall and class B winner, at the same time he is equal on points with Guang Chan-Wei in joint first place. Zhong Zhi-Jun wins his first race in class C and 10th overall, the only class C driver in the top 10. The overall winner is Li Kai-Long, a first time competitor. Third overall is Tan Hao-De.
Most drivers are reported to be continuing in the race next year. The Circuit Hero Two will continue to be one of the mainstays of the Pan Delta Super Racing Festival, a race for the grassroot racers and the fans.
