Shigetomo Shimono from Buzz Racing won in 2013 AFR Series R8 after Leo Ye, yesterday’s winner, made mistakes during the race and tumbled down the order. Leo Ye still won in Asian Class, while Leo Wong again the winner of the Masters.

At the start, Shimono and his teammate Yuki Shiraishi made a better start then pole man Leo Ye and went 3-wide into the first corner. While Shimono and Ye went through, Shiraishi spun as he stepped onto the dirty line. He was out.

Shimono briefly held first place after first corner, but quickly demoted again by Ye in T4. The stage was then set for a duo between them as they pulled away from the others quickly. Although Ye tried hard to gap himself between Shimono, but his tires started to wear after a couple of laps. He then made a mistake in T14, stepping onto the grass and allowing Shimono to pass him in T1.

Leo Ye tried hard to get back into the fight but his effort was wasted, as he went off in Lap 9. He managed to get going again but was demoted to 5th overall.

Shimono was then unchallenged and took his 3rd overall win in the season as well as the winner trophy of the International Class. Championship contender Julio Acosta from Champ Motorsport took 2nd, and Alexandra Asmasoebrata got a brilliant 3rd.  Pete Olson chased the trio hard yet had to settle for 4th.

5th place’s Leo Ye still managed to hold off Li Chao to take Asian Class win. PS Racing’s Sunny Wong had a dreadful start and fell to the tail end of the field after Lap 1, but managed to fight back to 7th. Jason Kang, meanwhile, took 8th and the last podium place for Asian Class after overwhelming Neric in the last laps.

Leo Wong from ART was 10th and snatched yet another Master Class win. Victor Yung and Thomas Luedi completed the podium for Master Class.

Seires debutant, 19-year-old Naomi Schiff failed to depart in the formation lap and had to start from the pit lane. She fought back to 11th.

The final two rounds will be held in ZIC on 20-22 December.
