30 Jun 2017 Special gift on Fathers Day - Carnival style Pan Delta activities deep in peoples hearts
Two days of downpour brought with it a cooler temperature. Although the rain brought problems to the Pan Delta races, the crowd was still enthusiastic. On this special Father’s Day weekend, Pan Delta Summer Race still attracted a lot of spectators and their families to come for the races. Great food and services, multiple entertainment options and the new Track Attack are all very popular.
Father’s Day Family Run
Relative to other race events, Pan Delta has more entertainment and is more personal. From the make up of the spectators it can tell that 80% of them brought their families. The number of children attending far exceeds expectations. The way the whole family attend a race meeting together is what Pan Delta has been working on and trying to achieve with its entertainment options.
In order to achieve this, Pan Delta has spent years working on creating an environment behind the grandstands where spectators can relax and have fun. All the merchants that are brought in have been carefully selected to fill any voids in the families’ requirements. From the simplest food and beverages to GT simulators, everything is carefully considered to cover the needs of each family member.
After fulfilling the needs of basic living, Pan Delta organizers have put an emphasis on spiritual aspects. The spread of motorsport culture and the Melaka Cultural Exhibition have been opened since the beginning of last year. The newly established “Circuit Hero Bear” themed shop is based on the Pan Delta mascot Circuit Hero Bear, it tries to promote the Pan Delta culture through the cute image of the bear. This special design is very attractive to children. There are always children holding on to the bear around the shop. Mr. Zhou from Guangzhou brought his son and wife along for the event. At the shop his son picked a Circuit Hero Bear for himself, but he also picked a Circuit Hero Bear keyring for his dad as his Fathers Day present. “This is the first real Fathers Day present I have ever received, I am really happy. I love racing and I love this present even more.”
Enthusiasm that cannot be dampened by rain
For normal motorsports, there are always more people off the track than on it. Therefore there is the feeling that motorsport has a high entry threshold and is out of reach for most people. Pan Delta has been trying to turn this image around. The many interactive activities in the merchandizing area is one such effort. The Track Attack that this race introduces is another.
At 10:30 on 18 June, with Circuit Hero Bear leading and MAP Runners as company, over a thousand runners get down from the grandstand and run the 4.3 km track amidst good music and dance. The entries will all receive Pan Delta tickets, Circuit Hero Bear t-shirt and a tie-up backpack. All finishers will receive a Circuit Hero Bear.
Calling it a passionate run is no exaggeration. It is not just the great dancing before the run, but the huge deluge half way through the run, causing all runners to be absolutely drenched. No runner retired from the race though. All of them continue to run, showing their passion. The distance is only 4.3 km but for most runners this is a rare opportunity. The deluge in the middle of the race makes the event more dramatic. At the finishing line, the race finishers gather and laugh. Foshan runner Ms. Wang said, “This really is a rare experience, we usually watch the racing from the grandstand, never thought that we would have the chance to run the track like this. After the run we have more direct feeling for this track. If there is another opportunity to run it in the future, then I will come again, regardless it is in a race car or just running!”
Zhuhai International Circuit General Manager Mr. Stewart Tan said, “Our spectators are the most important piece of the race event’s jigsaw puzzle. Getting them more involved in the race and not just sitting in the grandstand is one of the issues we have always been investigating. This Track Attack is one of our experiments. Spectators don’t have to just sit in the grandstand, the track is not just for race cars. We may bring in more sports events for large groups in the future and get more fans on to the track. Only after they have come in will be able to spread motorsport culture more widely, breaking the so-called high threshold for motorsports.”
Down to earth is the main theme for Pan Delta. Family fun is an initial target that Pan Delta has hit. It is a great platform for sponsors and businesses. Let’s give the Pan Delta fans credit for their enthusiasm, even in this downpour!
