16 Sep 2012 2012 AFR Series Race 3: Satoshi Kosugi claims first pole of qualifying
The qualifying for AFR Series Race 3 at Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC) began under a windy day. Satoshi Kosugi beat Yosuke Yamazaki by slight edge and gained the pole position.
In this competition, the Japanese driver Satoshi Kosugi and Yosuke Yamazaki from the Buzz Racing had a rat race at the back part of the race. It gave all the spectators an amazing qualifying session: At first, Satoshi dominated the race and Yosuke was at the very back position. However, Yosuke stocked suddenly and overtook Gaku Ishiyama from Hopewill Buzz Racing, seizing the second place.Not only that, Yosuke also overtook Satoshi swiftly by 0.065 seconds faster. Game still not over, Satoshi managed to keep his speed swinging up. Thenhe struck back with the best time 1:36.840 when two laps remaining.It totally showed his strength.
Before Yosuke got a second wind, Shaun Thong from FRD Racing also afforded a great moment to the spectators. Shaun got into the groove very quickly after the race started. He overtook Shigetomo Shimono from Hopewill Buzz Racing and grabbed the second place in his Lap 2. Firstly, he kept his pace pretty well until his Lap 5 he dropped back to the 5th. But he wasn’t distracted because of falling. He kept fighting with his strong will, back leading Shigetomo Shimono and got the third place with 1:37.950 at the end. Also, Shaun Thong had adjusted the setting of his car after qualifying.
