15 Sep 2012 ZIC Superbike qualifying: Peerless Dan Kruger

On 15 Sep 2012, the 2012 Pan Delta Super Racing Festival Autumn Race is held at ZIC. Both qualifying sessions of the ZIC Superbike Championship are run and the combined results show that Dan Kruger will start from pole position with a 1:37.656 lap time.

In the first qualifying session at 9:20, #71 Dan Kruger managed the quickest time early on. Veteran rider Huang Shi-Zhao only gets on the track after half the session is gone. He then duly completes a lap of 1:37.956. But Dan Kruger is on form and soon he manages a 1:37.656 to confirm his superiority.

Compared with the first session, the bright sun means track temperature has risen and the bikes' tyres will be more grippy, resulting in quicker lap times. But that's just the theory, can any rider prove it?

Huang Shi-Zhao takes the first shot and he does a 1:38.388 to take provisional pole position. With 4 minutes to go Dan Kruger finally appears. On his first lap he already does a 1:39 and goes second. Then on his third lap, he does a 1:38.130, the fastest time of the session. With half a minute to go, all the riders have just one lap left to try to overcome him. But no one can.

In the end, Dan Kruger continues his dominance in qualifying and takes pole position. Huang Shi-Zhao is second and Li Zheng-Peng is third.

The ZIC Superbike races will be held at 10:00 and 13:30 on Sunday 16 September. Can Dan Kruger hold on to his advantage or will either Huang Shi-Zhao or Li Zheng-Peng take over?
