16 Jun 2017 Formula Masters Series join Pan Delta Super Racing Festival
Formula Master Series heads to Zhuhai (China) for Round 3 after two very competitive rounds at the Sepang International Circuit (Malaysia). The FMS Drivers will show their mettle in front of full grandstands this weekend as the Pan Delta Super Racing Festival is very popular with the local crowd and the circuit expects around 20,000 spectators.
A typhoon has just passed southern China and it looks like it could be a wet weekend.
Absolute Racing is leading the FMS team championship as well as the driver’s championship with Daniel Lu from China after 2 rounds in Sepang with 106 points. His teammate James YU from China won 3 races out of 4 in last Sepang round and is in 2nd place just 11 points behind Daniel.
Arvin ESMAEILI is going to try hard to reach the top step of the podium this weekend. Mexican driver Manuel CABRERA is aiming for his maiden podium finish this weekend as well.
This round Eurasia Motorsport welcomes two new drivers, Angie King from the Philippines as well as Chinese driver LIU Zexuan who makes a come back to the series. Singapore driver Danial FROST is in third overall and is only 5 points behind James Yu and will fight hard to remain a championship contender. Kurt Hill has been steadily improving and will be looking for his maiden podium this weekend.
New Zealander driver Taylor COCKERTON got his first win in his first round in Sepang and will be keen to repeat this at ZIC this weekend. He is still in full championship contention just 21 points behind the championship leader. He will go on racing for Cebu Pacific Air by Pinnacle Motorsport with his teammates Ben GRIMES from the Philippines and Spanish driver Antolin GONZALEZ.
Linky Racing is the only all Chinese team and remains with the same driver line-up as in Sepang, HU Nan, ZHANG Ya Qi and LUO Kailuo. Hu Nan and Zhang Yaqi will face some new competition Masters Class from LIU Zexuan and Angie King.
Two Free practice sessions will be held on Friday afternoon, with qualifying 1, 2 and race 9 (12 laps) held on Saturday. On Sunday, there will be race 10 with 7 laps and race 11 with 12 laps.
