Photo : BRASELTON (GEORGIA, USA), ROAD ATLANTA, PETIT LE MANS, RACE, 1st OCT 2011. Finishing third in LM P2 at Petit Le Mans, the Oreca of Signatech Nissan (#26) won the 2011 ILMC Class Title.
The final round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup 2011, 6 hours Zhuhai will include a duel between two French teams in LM P2.
Peugeot and Audi for the win, Ferrari and BMW for the LM GT title but there is also Signatech Nissan and OAK Racing in the LM P2 class that is reserved for prototypes powered by road car derived engines. For the latter, it will be a true duel with one car entered at Zhuhai for each of the two French teams.
Official partner of Nissan, Signatech secured the 2011 class title during the previous round at Petit Le Mans (USA), following a strong season, and adding a victory in Zhuhai would be drive home the point. OAK won the LM P2 title at the end of the 2010 ILMC, but have had the challenge this year of running prototypes in both categories (LM P1 and LM P2). After a difficult start to the season, particularly marked by a major accident at Spa-Francorchamps, OAK Racing took a first podium at Silverstone in LM P1, and hope to finish the season with a success in LM P2, where they have built reputation for excellence and reliability. Two LM P2 cars only, but two teams who have ruled the class, each with a title over the two seasons of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup ... A great prospect for this season finale on Chinese soil.
Signatech Nissan: Oreca-Nissan (#26) Franck Mailleux / Lucas Ordonez / Jean-Karl Vernay. OAK Racing: OAK Pescarolo-Judd (#35) Frederic da Rocha / Patrice Lafargue.
