23 Sep 2011 ZIC Superbike Championship Race 2: Huang Shi-Zhao takes easy win as Dan Kruger injures himself
On 18 Sept, at 13:40, Audi Pan Delta Autumn race host another round of the ZIC Superbike Championship. The race 2 grid is according to the riders' finishing positions in race 1. Therefore Huang Shi-Zhao is on the pole, with Dan Kruger second and Xiao Jin third.
The red lights are off and the race begins. Pole sitter Huang Shi-Zhao charges into the lead. His CSBK teammate Xiao Jin also makes a good start and passes Dan Kruger into turn 1 and into second place. But Dan Kruger is a competant rider and certainly not pleased about being passed. Soon, using a good run around a corner to build up speed, he claims his second place back. A lap later, the order is Huang Shi-Zhao, Dan Kruger, Xiao Jin, Guan Ying-Hao, Joao Fernandes, Cheung Wai-On, Hu Zhao-Neng and Karl Roe.
On lap 3, Xiao Jin speeds up and begins to threaten Dan Kruger's position. Joao Fernandes is also putting pressure on Guan Ying-Hao. The two pairs of riders are fighting over second and fourth places. At turn 9, Xiao Jin dives down the inside line and makes a successful pass. But Dan Kruger, riding a 1,000cc machines, soon uses his power advantage to reclaim his position back on the straight. Behind them Joao Fernandes and Karl Roe have both passed Guan Ying-Hao and moved into 4th and 5th places. After picking off Guan, the two riders begin to battle with each other.
In the last 3 laps, Huang Shi-Zhao has extended his lead to over 10 seconds. But the battle between Dan Kruger and Xiao Jin is not over yet. The two riders are only 1 second apart. But Xiao Jin's 600cc bike has no answer to the 1000cc machine on the straights. Behind them, Karl Roe has passed Joao Fernandes for fourth.
In the end, Huang Shi-Zhao wins his second race of the Audi Pan Delta weekend easily. Dan Kruger, with an arm injury, takes second place. Xiao Jin finishes third. 4th to 8th are Karl Roe, Joao Fernandes, Guan Ying-Hao, Yuji Okabayashi and So Siu-Hung respectively. Huang Shi-Zhao also takes home the Red Bull Fastest Lap prize.
