22 Sep 2011 29 cars battle for Circuit Hero Three honours, Eurico de Jesus and Simon Yam duel
On 18 September 2011, after two races are completed in the Audi Pan Delta Super Racing Festival the day before, the real battle begins. The curtain rises with the Circuit Hero Three race.
Circuit Hero Three has the lowest requirements for competing cars and drivers. The cars only need a slight modification to satisfy the scrutineers. Therefore it is the most popular race for drivers. In the autumn race, 29 drivers have entered and after the qualifying sessions on 17th, Eurico de Jesus, Simon Yam and Liang Yin-Rong line up first to third on the grid.
At 10:35 on 18th Sept, the race begins. Eurico makes a clean start and leads into turn 1, did not leave any space for Simon Yam to make an attack. But with the huge number of entries, contact is inevitable as they funnel through turn 1. Safety car is deployed at the end of lap 1 until lap 3.
The race restarts and Eurico de Jesus continues to lead, keeping everyone behind him. But Simon Yam is able to follow him closely and keep the pressure on. Liang Yin-Rong is also not far behind, ready to pounce should anything happens.
In the middle of the race, Liang begins to lose touch with the leaders. It is not a direct duel between Eurico and Simon. Although Eurico can maintain the leadership, Simon Yam is keeping pace, just 0.5 second behind.
In the final stages, Simon Yam begins to push and the duo run nose-to-tail, the gap between them is just 0.2 second. But Eurico de Jesus is an experienced driver and he has an answer for everything that Simon asks of him. Two laps before the end, Simon Yam tries a bold move at turn 4, but to no avail.
In the end, Eurico de Jesus successfully defends his lead and wins the Circuit Hero Three race by 0.253 second over Simon Yam. Liang Yin-Rong finishes in third place.
