In the first race of the Audi Pan Delta Super Racing Festival's Circuit Hero Road Sport on 19th March, Li Chao-Hua only beat Deng Zhi-Lun by 1.4 seconds. It was not a big margin. Deng Zhi-Lun's mad rush near the end of the race showed that he was not happy with second place. Today the two will be having their showdown.
According to the regulations, the race 2 starting grid is set by race 1 results. At the start of the race, Li Chao-Hua successfully protects his position while Deng Zhi-Lun did not give anything away. The duo quickly moves away from the rest of the field and turn the race into a personal duel.
After just one lap, Li Chao-Hua and Deng Zhi-Lun already establish a 16 second gap over the third placed driver and the battle seems to be on. But just as Deng readies himself for an attack on the lead, smoke begins to flow out the bonnet of his Mitsubishi. His car's progress is impeded and he thus loses the chance to take the fight to Li Chao-Hua.
While Deng Zhi-Lun losing the chance to challenge Li Chao-Hua, third and fourth placed Xu Xin and Nigel Farmer begin to battle for third place. The two drivers pass and re-pass each other. On lap 4, Nigel pulls out a small gap and moves away.
On lap 7, Deng Zhi-Lun's problem deepens, the smoke intensifies and the spectators begin to worry for him. Although he is no longer able to challenge for the lead, he is still a solid second.
As the race moves into its final phase, the top 3 positions are very much settled, although fourth place once again becomes uncertain. Zhong Fa-An in fifth place closes the gap between himself and Xu Xin to about 1 second. In the end, Li Chao-Hua wins the race comfortably and wins the Red Bull Fastest Lap award with a 1:43.192 lap, completing a grand slam at the Audi Pan Delta Spring Race Circuit Hero Road Sport race. Deng Zhi-Lun nursed his sick car to the flag for second place, while Nigel Farmer finishes third. Xu Xin fences off the challenge from Zhong Fa-An to claim fourth place.
