20 Mar 2011 Circuit Hero: Jerome Badaraco and Su Guo-Xiong shares the spoils of victory

With the much reduced entry threshold now in place for the newly re-classified Circuit Hero, the star race of Audi Pan Delta Super Racing Festival's popularity has increased once again. Over 30 drivers have entered the race.

In the qualifying session on 19th March, Jerome Badaraco, Mak Ka-Lok and Tang You-Xi took the top 3 starting positions. As the red lights go out, the 30 race cars power towards the first corner. Polesitter Badaraco leads into the first corner with a narrow advantage over the rest, while third placed Tang You-Xi only lasts half a lap before his engine gives up. No. 7 Lin Xiong-Hui's race car also spins as he tries to overtake for position, but hits no one.

At the end of lap 1, Badaraco begins to get away, his lead over second placed Mak Ka-Lok is near 2 seconds. On lap 2, due to dangerous position where Tang You-Xi's car is parked at, the organizers show the yellow and oil flags and the safety car is deployed. Now no one is allowed to overtake. The top 8 at this moment are Badaraco, Mak Ka-lok, Diaz, Liang Xin-Rong, Su Guo-Xiong, He Wei-Hang, Huang Yun-Long and Wei Zhao-Yin.

On lap 5, the race re-starts and Badaraco plays it perfectly, leaving the following pack with no chance to pass him. But Mak Ka-lok does not give up and keeps the pressure on. The rest of the pack also make moves left, right and centre, as every driver try to make up places. In the confusion, Ma Ka-Lok loses a place to Su Guo-Xiong while He Wei-Hang moves up to 5th place ahead of Liang Xin-Rong.

In the latter half of the race, fourth placed Diaz closes in on third placed Mak Ka-Lok, trying to look for a way pass. The two men run nose-to-tail while fifth place He Wei-Hang is ready to pounce should either one makes a mistake. But Mak Ka-Lok is a smart driver, he successfully uses the chance of lapping backmarkers to pull out a gap over Diaz and secures his third place.

In the end Badaraco wins the race overall without much incident. Su Guo-Xiong and Mak ka-Lok takes second and third positions. Su Guo-Xiong has additional consolation with the Red Bull fastest lap award, after setting a 1:51.910 lap in the race.
