12 Dec 2010 ZIC Superbike Championship Race 1 and Race 2
The race starts at 3:45pm. 8 riders begins the race and before long no. 71 Dan Kruger and no. 62 Kwan Ying-Ho have taken the first and second positions.
The two riders finish lap 1 just merely 1.53 seconds apart. But third placed Nick Winthrope has fallen back by more than 4 seconds. Very clearly this race is going to be just between Dan Kruger and Kwan Ying-Ho.
The gap between the two riders is very steady for the next 4 laps, lap 2: 1.530; lap 3: 1.302; lap 4: 1.454 and lap 5: 1.553. Although they are not passing and re-passing each other, the two riders are still attacking and defending each other in the timing tables.
The four riders from third to sixth are no. 47 Nick Winthrope, no. 72 Xu Wei-Lang, no. 44 Ramon Alonso and no. 89 Steven Hallam. The gap among them is just 5 seconds. Any mistakes and they will lose the chance of climbing onto the podium. But apart from Hallam moving pass Alonso, the rest of the race the four riders just maintained their pace and positions steadily.
On lap 8, Kwan Ying-Ho achieves the fastest lap of the race as he tries to put Kruger under some pressure. But Dan was unconcerned and in response makes a quicker lap on lap 9: 1:41.607, as if telling Kwan to settle for second.
In the end, no. 71 Dan Kruger rides his Kawasaki ZX10R to victory in race 1, completing the 10 lap race in a time of 17:07.394. No. 62 Kwan Ying-Ho takes second place on his Yamaha R1, 1.595 seconds behind. Third place goes to Nick Winthrope, also riding a Kawasaki like Kruger. He finishes the race 51.631 seconds behind the winner.
