On 19 March, the non-stop rain since the morning means there are many puddles all around the circuit. Although the rain eased in the afternoon, the water has not receded quickly enough and still posed a danger to the superbike riders. After a circuit inspection, the organizers decided to cancel today’s superbike race out of safety concerns for the riders.

All the participating riders have made their preparations. Although it is with a slight regret, all of them expressed understanding towards the cancellation. #9 Huang Shi-Zhao said, “I completely understand the decision to cancel the race. Superbikes are dangerous enough and the higher the competition level the safety demands are also higher. Also this weekend’s races have been upgraded to FIM international race, the cancellation is a responsible decision for every rider. Although it is a shame, it will not affect my passion for future Pan Delta participation.” #80 Alex Cudlin said, “The team has made all the necessary preparation. But sadly the race has to be cancelled due to weather issues. I hope the fans can understand it. I believe the riders can understand and I hope to race again in the next Pan Delta.”

About the cancellation, CAMF deputy secretariat Ms. Gong Hong-Guo said, “Very sadly, this is a painful decision. But it is a decision we had to make out of safety concerns for the riders. Before the race we and the stewards went to examine the circuit, we found 4 to 5 big puddles of water. They are located at the apex or braking area. The track kerb also has puddles of water, which riders use when cornering. We consider the riders’ safety as paramount importance, so we cancelled the race. It is a rare race in which Chinese and international riders race together. Before the race we found that many internationally registered riders have entered the Pan Delta Superbike race. According to the regulations, we have to make an application to FIM and upgrade the race to international race. We hope Pan Delta’s Superbike race can keep up this momentum. At the same time we fully support Pan Delta Superbike race to become a true international race in the long term.”

ZIC General Manager Mr. Stewart Tan said, “Our stewards examined the circuit and found that it is not up to standard, so they decided to cancel the race. It is a safety consideration. Safety has to be number one. I believe our professional fans will understand this decision. We have many international level riders for this race, so FIM upgraded it to international race provisionally. We are honoured. We believe that for the next race on the third weekend of June, our fans can make up for their disappointment then. We will bring an even more exciting race to everyone.”
