06 Jan 2016 2016 Circuit Hero 500km Endurance Race sets off ZIC race season

On 9-10 January 2016, Zhuhai International Circuit welcomes the first race event of the new year, the Circuit Hero 500km Endurance Race. This is already the annual endurance race’s 6th edition since its inception in 2010. This weekend’s Circuit Hero 500km Endurance Race will inject some warm passion into the winter season.

The Circuit Hero 500km Endurance Race is limited to 3 hours, when the leading race car has completed 500km (117 laps at ZIC), then the race is over. If no car is able to complete 500km within the 3 hours time limit, then the leading car at 3 hours and 1 lap will be declared the winner. The ZIC Superbike 3 Hours Race that is held on the same day will use the same method to determine the winner.

In the previous 5 editions of the Circuit Hero 500km Endurance Race, the best result was in 2012 when Darryl O’Young and Frank Yu completed 96 laps, equivalent to 412.8km, in their Ford GT. This year the race has attracted a large number of racers, with more than 40 entries. The race cars among the entries are GT cars like the Audi R8, Ferrari 458, Lamborghini LP620 and Porsche 911. Will the strong competition mean that the 96 laps record will be broken? Let’s wait and see on 10 January!

In addition to the Circuit Hero 500km Endurance Race, the ZIC Superbike 3 Hours Race is also full of great riders. Dan Kruger, Karl Roe, Shen Xi, Hu Zhao-Neng, Yuan Ji-Bo are all active participants of the ZIC Superbike Championship. The record is held by 2014 winner Dan Kruger/Karl Roe, who completed 105 laps. A little more than a year has passed, will they be able to set a new record?
