The weather improves just in time at Zhuhai International Circuit for the Speed Hero 600cc and 1000cc qualifying sessions, as they kick off the Pan Delta Super Racing Festival Summer Race on 14 June.

Speed Hero 600cc qualifying session begins at 11:30 a.m. with 20 riders taking part. At the start of the session, Yamaha MLT Racing’s #777 Li Zhong sets the ball rolling with a 1:41.771 best lap time. #2 Yuan Ji-Bo follows him with a 1:42.039. Then Yuan Ji-Bo overtakes him with a faster time. With 4 minutes of the session left, Li Zhong manages a 1:41.420 and returns to the top of the timing screens. But #22 Sha Jun-Tong is only 0.01 second behind him with Yuan Ji-Bo down in third place. As the clock ticks down, Yuan Jo-Bo puts in a 1:41.312 fastest lap to snatch pole position! In the end, the top three of 600cc are #2 Yuan Ji-Bo, Yamaha MLT Racing #777 Li Zhong and #22 Sha Jun-Tong.

Speed Hero 1000cc qualifying begins straight after at 12:00 p.m. with 13 riders competing. At the start of the session, after a few warm up laps, Yamaha MLT Racing #26 Li Zheng-Peng sets a 1:36.196 to take provisional pole position. #7 Shinjo Masahiro is in second position, 0.426 second behind. Yamaha MLT Racing #59 He Zhi-Feng is in third place. With 5 minutes to go, Li Zheng-Peng sets a super fast 1:34.977 lap and locked up pole position. In the end, Speed Hero 1000cc top 3 are Yamaha MLT Racing #26 Li Zheng-Peng, #7 Shinjo Masahiro and Yamaha MLT Racing’s other rider, #59 He Zhi-Feng.

According to the regulations, Speed Hero starting grid will be determined by combining the riders’s lap times in both sessions. Yamaha MLT Racing #26 Li Zheng-Peng is thus on pole position for race 3. #7 Shinjo Masahiro will start in second place. Yamaha MLT Racing #59 He Zhi-Feng will start from third position, just ahead of #99 Jack Ao Ieong Fu, #71 Dan Kruger and #92 Zhang Wei-An.
