21 Jun 2018 Pan Delta Big Data: Race “flow” brought in millions of revenue
On the third weekend of June 2018, Dragon Boat Festival, Father’s Day and the FIFA World Cup coincide. For most people, racing Dragon Boats, watch football matches, family day out, is the main theme for this holiday. Facing a highly popular event elsewhere, a lot of major activities and events in China have avoided it, but Pan Delta continues on as scheduled and is one rare bright spot among Chinese sporting events.
In the Pan Delta weekend that has just finished, 8 different categories and a total of 12 races took place at Zhuhai International Circuit. Formula cars, superbikes, supercars, modified saloons, one make and drift races all took to the track. A total number of 166 drivers, 148 race cars demonstrated Pan Delta’s liveliness. It is a unique sight in Chinese motorsports.
Although the summer race is affected by the long weekend and World Cup, over the two days weekend it still attracted 13,000 fans to the circuit. Among the fans, the most popular groups are families and friends. The groupings demonstrate that people treat Pan Delta as a festive event. Its model of exciting races and entertaining services have won over the fans. Pan Delta is now an important travel destination for families. Compared with other races in the country, Pan Delta’s spectator figures are brilliant. But even more eye-catching is that the non-sponsorship income has reached seven figures. Clearly, the Pan Delta fans are not here just for the busy event or free gifts. They have real spending power and the desire to spend. This is the real development of Chinese motorsports, a realistic path for Chinese circuit racing to go on.
Considering that the motorsport fans group and football fans group are largely overlapping, Pan Delta prepared many broadcast platforms for those who cannot attend the race event. There were a total of nearly 30 online live broadcast platforms that carried the Pan Delta race signal. Over the two days, 800,000 people watched the races. This made it possible for motorsport and football fans to watch motorsport in the day and football in the evening.
Apart from live broadcasts, more use of web streaming and new technology have made the races better: for example before the race, there were online ticket sales and promotion on JD Logistics, Wesai and 20 other app platforms; joint-promotion with JD Logistics and Zkungfu; joint-promotion in numerous places in Southern China… etc. All have helped Pan Delta receive widespread promotions. The use of new technology is also interesting: during the live broadcast of Circuit Hero-Two, the TV commentator was able to talk directly to a participating driver directly using in-car equipment. This added another dimension to the race broadcast. The advancement of these new technologies will surely bring more interest and attention to Pan Delta in the future.
Pan Delta Summer Race is over. The excitement on the circuit have left an indelible impression on everyone’s mind. The Pan Delta platform’s huge success deserves more consideration by the national motorsport industry. A fan base with great spending power, strong teams and drivers and a highly efficient operation team, furthermore deeply involved sponsors, helped to make this a hugely successful event. It is attracting a lot of people to come and take part and pay attention to it, helping to further realize its commercial value.
There is only one Pan Delta in China. This is the pride of Chinese motorsports.
