15 Sep 2018 Self-challenging finale - Circuit Hero-Three Qualifying
On 15 September 2018, Pan Delta Super Racing Festival is held at Zhuhai International Circuit. Due to the effects of Super Typhoon Mangkhut, the race organizers regrettably have to cancel the race on 16 September. Therefore Circuit Hero-Three qualifying becomes the last session of 2018 Pan Delta Super Racing Festival. In this session, PetroCanada Star Chase Racing #36 takes 1st place overall as well as for A2 class. Da Jia Che Yan Lun #17 is second overall and first in A1 class. The top 3 qualifiers of each class will receive series points according to the regulations.
A total of 19 race cars take part in the Circuit Hero-Three qualifying. Due to the adjustment in the regulations, the race cars are all modified similarly and their lap times are very close. In turn that makes the racing very exciting and give the drivers more opportunities to race against each other, enhancing their in race combat skills.
In the afternoon of 15 September, the qualifying session officially begins. As soon as the race begins, #36 sets a fastest lap of 2:01.053. #71 follows closely. On lap 2, #6 has a spin at turn 6 and the car stops on the grass off the track, fortunately it is not in a dangerous position. On lap 4, #17 raises its lap time to 2:00.185, while the gap between #36 and #27 is not big and the three cars fight for better lap times. Just before the end of the session, #36 finally makes it into the 2 minutes bracket and sets a 1:59.802 to take first place overall as well as Circuit Hero-Three A2 class pole position. #17 loses by 0.218 second but it still gets pole position for A1 class. #22 comes from behind to set a 2:00.070 and finishes third overall.
2018 Pan Delta Super Racing Festival thus finishes its race program. We expect the teams and drivers to perform even better in next year’s Pan Delta Super Racing Festival.
