On Saturday 15 September 2018, Pan Delta Super Racing Festival’s final round is held at Zhuhai International Circuit. Circuit Hero-Drift, one of the Circuit Hero race series completed its final race of the year. Due to the effects of Super Typhoon Mangkhut, the steeple chase on Sunday is cancelled and only the qualifying is held on Saturday. Hong Kong China driver James Tang performs steadily in qualifying and becomes the overall winner.
All four competing drivers come from Hong Kong China, among them James Tang is nicknamed “Drift King of Hong Kong”. The other three drivers are Tommy Woo, Wong Chin-Hong and Li Hu-Nam are also frequent drift racers at other events, their technical levels are also very good.
At the start, James Tang shows high speed, accurate lines and big turn angles. Next up Tommy Woo also shows great skill with a smooth run. The challenge on the driver’s phycological level and precision driving is monumental.
Now is the chance for Wong Chin-Hong to shine. He makes a very quick start to try to open up the gap to the driver behind, his lines are clean and he is rewarded with loud applause from the crowd. The scene on track has clearly light up the crowd’s passion.
After the race, winner James Tang said, “I am very happy to take part in Circuit Hero-Drift this year. The scale and professionalism of the race has clearly gone up. More and more international drivers are coming to race here. For Chinese drivers, we learn a lot every time we race. It is a very effective way to upgrade ourselves. Hopefully next year more drivers will join. The car and I work together very well today. In the future I will pay more attention on inspecting the machine.”
