15 Jun 2019 Third win for Yamaha MLT Racing’s Li Zheng-Peng -Speed Hero Race 3
On 15 June, the first day of the Pan Delta Summer Race, Speed Hero 600cc and 1000cc race 3 is held at Zhuhai International Circuit. Without the threat of rain, the riders were able to perform to the best of their abilities. There were many overtaking moves on track. In the end, Yamaha MLT Racing’s #26 Li Zheng-Peng wins the race overall by a substantial margin.
The 10 laps Speed Hero race 3 starts at 12:23 p.m.. 33 riders are taking part. At the start, Yamaha MLT Racing’s #59 He Zhi-Feng races to the lead, but his teammate Li Zheng-Peng made a poor start and drops back to third place. At turn 5, He Zhi-Feng goes through the corner with #7 Japanese rider Shinjo Masahiro and the two touched, He Zhi-Feng falls off his bike and drops to last place. By now Li Zheng-Peng is back on the lead. After one lap, Li Zheng-Peng leads, Shinjo Masahiro is second and #99 Jack Ao Ieong Fu is third. From 4th to 8th are #92 Cheung Wai-On, #71 Dan Kruger, #69 Nakamura Tatsuya, #2 Yuan Ji-Bo and Yamaha MLT Racing’s #777 Li Zhong.
In the remaining race, Li Zheng-Peng continues to extend his lead and put more and more mileage between himself and his pursuers, while his teammate He Zhi-Feng tries to recover lost positions. At half distance, He Zhi-Feng is up to 17th position. By now Li Zheng-Peng has an 8 seconds lead and has made a 1:34.777 fastest lap. In the 600cc class, #69 Nakamura Tatsuya has also maintained his lead, Yamaha MLT Racing’s #777 Li Zhong follows him and is trying to reduce the deficit. With two laps to go, Li Zhong successfully passes Nakamura Tatsuya. He Zhi-Feng is now up to 9th place.
In the end, Yamaha MLT Racing’s #26 Li Zheng-Peng comfortably takes the Speed Hero race 3 victory. #7 Shinjo Masahiro finishes second while #99 Jack Ao Ieong Fu finishes third place.
For the various classes, Speed Hero 600cc CL1 top 3 are Yamaha MLT Racing #777 Li Zhong, #69 Nakamura Tatsuya, #2 Yuan Ji-Bo; CL2 top 3 are #17 Lin Zhi-Fei, #66 Ao Jian-Bin, #22 Sha Jun-Tong. For 1000cc Open A class, the top 3 are Yamaha MLT Racing #26 Li Zheng-Peng, #7 Shinjo Masahiro and #71 Dan Kruger. In the Open B class, top 3 are #99 Jack Ao Ieong Fu, #92 Cheung Wai-On and Yamaha MLT Racing #59 He Zhi-Feng.
After the race, Li Zheng-Peng confidently said, “Although I did not make a good start and lost two positions, I adjusted quickly and made my moves. Soon I found my rhythm and pulled away for the win. I still have 3 more wins to go before equaling my six wins record.”
