From July 24 to 26, Zhuhai International Circuit under Huafa Group hosted the show‑stopping Round 3 of the 2026 Xiaomi‑China GT Championship (CHINA GT). Compound challenges of scorching heatwaves and peripheral rainfall brought by Typhoon Hongxia hit the race weekend. Boasting well‑established hardware infrastructure, end‑to‑end event execution and refined service support, Zhuhai International Circuit delivered all race sessions smoothly, striking an ideal balance between competitive professionalism and spectator experience.

52 Race Cars Gather for Showdown Across Three Categories

Fifty‑two race entries from top domestic teams converged at Zhuhai International Circuit, engaging in fierce competition within GT3, GTS and GTC categories to present a spectacular feast of speed and thrill for audiences. This marked the third round of the 2026 CHINA GT season, a critical mid‑season juncture where teams intensified their pursuit of championship honours. The GT3 class set a new all‑time‑high record for CHINA GT with 30 entries; the GTS and GTC classes fielded 16 and 6 cars respectively.

As the pinnacle of CHINA GT Championship, the GT3 category featured elite squads including Origine Motorsport, Climax Racing, FIST Team AAI, Phantom Global Racing, Absolute Racing, UNO Racing Team and 610Racing. In GTS, three powerhouse manufacturers — Toyota GR, Porsche and BMW — went head‑to‑head with 16 cars battling side‑by‑side. The GTC class saw three cup‑spec race cars, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, Ferrari 296 Challenge and Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, locking horns in a three‑way contest.

Following intense on‑track battles, classification results were finalised. In Race 1 for GTC/GTS, the 610Racing crew of Ye Zhengyang / Yang Baijie took overall victory. Frankenstein Racing’s Liu Taiji / Zhou Yiran claimed overall runner‑up, while Huang Xiaofeng / Feng Shaolun from Harmony Racing finished third overall. Within the GTS class, He Zhengquan of Team KRC kept up his stellar form to secure class victory. Moritz Berrenberg from Maxmore W&S Motorsport and Kantadhee Kusiri / Tian Weiyuan of Origin7 Racing finished second and third in‑class respectively.

In GT3 Race 2, Ye Hongli / Yuan Bo of Winhere Origine Motorsport lifted the overall winner’s trophy. Neil Verhagen / Yang Baijie from TBC by 610Racing put in an outstanding drive for overall second place, and Ling Kang / Bao Jinlong of Origine Motorsport rounded off the overall podium in third. For the GT3 AM+ subclass, Lv Wei / Ruan Cunfan from Team KRC won subclass honours. Wang Yibo / Melvin Moh of UNO Racing Team finished subclass second, and Li Hanyu / Ou Ziyang from GAHA Racing took subclass third. Peter Lv, Chairman of Zhuhai Huafa Sports, presented awards to the GT3 AM+ podium finishers.

China’s First Double‑Certified International Circuit: Proven Racing Capability

Completed in 1996, Zhuhai International Circuit is China’s first permanent international circuit holding dual certification from the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). Stretching 4.3 kilometres, it features 14 corners and a 900‑metre long straight, with its main grandstand accommodating 12,000 spectators. Since opening, the venue has hosted world‑class competitions including Le Mans Intercontinental Cup, FIA GT World Championship, A1 Grand Prix, CTCC, CHINA GT, CEC and F4 Chinese Championship. Hailed as the cradle of Chinese motorsport, it serves as the cornerstone of Zhuhai’s city brand as “China’s Motorsport City”. Its sophisticated track facilities and operation system provided a professional, reliable stage for the 52 supercars competing this weekend.

End‑to‑End Event Execution, Multi‑Department Joint Support

As one of the event operators, Zhuhai International Circuit worked closely with the event organizer to deliver comprehensive guarantees covering circuit maintenance, paddock management, event coordination, timing‑and‑communication, security and traffic control. Robust Safeguards Bring Warmth Amid Sweltering Heat and Typhoon Threats

Held in midsummer, the event saw ambient temperatures hitting 33°C and track‑surface temperatures nearing 60°C. Later in the weekend, peripheral wind and rain brought by Typhoon Hongxia posed dual challenges to event organization and spectator travel. Faced with extreme weather, Zhuhai International Circuit adopted a risk‑oriented mindset and rolled out multi‑pronged countermeasures.

A 4,500‑square‑metre commercial‑leisure area was built, fitted with high‑efficiency cooling marquees and 20 large‑capacity air‑conditioning units to offer spectators cool shelter from heat and rain. Three fixed medical posts were deployed across the venue, supported by two mobile on‑track medical patrol teams and four ambulances on standby in designated zones, with medical staff on duty around‑the‑clock. Full‑site inspections were carried out together with emergency, fire‑fighting and meteorological departments, including reinforcement of temporary structures and drainage system checks. Co‑ordinating with Gao Xin Culture and Tourism authorities, 30 shuttle‑bus trips were arranged to transfer spectators free‑of‑charge to key transport hubs, with thorough emergency plans protecting all participants.

Meanwhile, the event upheld a people‑centred service philosophy. Pre‑event travel safety reminders for heat and rainfall were released across multiple platforms. The commercial‑leisure zone with cooling rest stations, brand displays and diverse catering services earned widespread praise.
