14 Jun 2014 Pan Delta AFR R6 R7 Qualifying: Maxx Ebenal snatched poles for both races
PS Racing’s Maxx Ebenal scores double pole in both R6 and R7 after a stunning qualifying performance.
Right at the start of the qualifying, Ebenal has already set a fast benchmark, with Heart Forex Buzz
Racing’s Shigetomo Shimono and FRD’s Alice Powell follow behind. However, the session was then halted by 2 red flags. KRC’s Wang Yang, who had an oil leak, and caused a spin for Samson Chan, triggered the first one. The second one was a clash between Thomas Luedi and Wayne Shen in T7.
After the session resume, Shimono went fastest and got provisional pole, only to be taken back by Maxx Ebenal by his 1: 38.627. Shimono 2nd, with Alice Powell 3rd. Former champion Yosuke Yamazaki got 4th while Champ’s Kimi Qin got 5th, ahead of his Asian Class rival, Sennal Iriawan from ART. Guillaume Cunnington got 7th while Wayne Shen snatched 8th before his crash. 9th went to Darma Hutomo and Thomas Luedi completes the top 10 for R6’s grid.
For the grid for R7, Maxx Ebenal’s second best lap of 1:38.830 and got his second pole of the weekend. The grid behind him is more or less the same with Shimono and Alice Powell got 2nd and 3rd again.
The Round 6 of 2014 Asian Formula Renault Series will be held in the afternoon on June 14 (Saturday).
